Cookie Policy

I am committed to protecting your privacy. That is why every page on here is secure as evidenced by the padlock symbol in the address bar.

This website is also set up for maximum security (via a Content Security Policy and a Referrer Policy) and does not allow any other websites you might visit afterwards to find out that you were looking at a counselling service.

As stated on the cookie notice, no PII (Personally Identifiable Information) is gathered about you by the cookies used here. Obviously, if you send me an email from the contact page, I will see the information you type when your email arrives, but only myself.

About Cookies

Cookies are small chunks of computer data that are stored in your internet browser. Each is associated with the website it came from.

  • A functional cookie is used to make the cookie notice disappear across all pages on this website when you click 'I accept'.
  • Cloudflare's Content Delivery Network that I use to speed up my website employs a performance cookie.
  • For SEO (Search Engine Optimization) the Psychology Today badge on the home page uses a marketing cookie, but just to link to my website.
  • Lastly, I use a Google analytical cookie from time to time to help me see what pages people look at on here, which helps me to develop this website. Google Analytics says that no PII is collected.

Opting Out

The functional, performance and marketing cookies cannot be disabled via your internet browser. These are necessary in order for this website to work, and not required via GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) to be optional. However, it is advised to inform you that they are being used, which I have done.

Also in accordance with GDPR, and as recommended by the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office), the Google Analytics cookie is not set until you click "I accept" in the cookie notice.

Should you accept the analytics cookie, you can opt out at any time later via the blue text link in the page footers titled "Review Cookie Policy".

I would be glad however, if you will allow the analytics cookies, so I can gradually improve this website over time. Should you allow this cookie to be set, it will only last for 30 days from the date you click to accept and then be automatically deleted.
